Forward-Deployed Engineering
Senior AI engineers, inside your team.
We embed forward-deployed engineers, senior AI engineers who work directly inside your team. They work in your repo, follow your process, and ship in your stack. The code is yours from day one.
What's included
- Weekly or monthly engagements
- Work happens in your repo and tools
- Live overlap scheduled to your time zone
- You own all the code
Weekly or monthly rate, quoted after the assessment.
Who this is for, and who it isn't
A good fit
- You have approved headcount for a senior AI engineer and the search has stalled.
- You already have a stack, a repo and a process. You need capacity inside them, not advice about them.
- The work is ongoing and the scope will move. You want someone who adapts rather than re-quotes.
- Your team is outside Taiwan and you need live overlap, not a handoff at midnight.
Not a fit
- You have one defined problem with a clear finish line. Take the fixed-scope project instead — it will cost less and end sooner.
- You cannot give an outside engineer access to your repository. Nothing here works without it.
- You want a strategy document. We do not produce those, and we are the wrong people to ask.
- You need someone in your office. Everything we do is async-first with scheduled live overlap.
The comparison you're actually making
There are four ways to solve this and three of them are sometimes right. Here is when each one wins, including the times we lose.
Hire in-house
The work is permanent, you can wait two to six months, and the salary plus equity is within budget. If all three are true, hire. A permanent problem deserves a permanent person, and we will tell you so on the first call.
A consultancy
You need an organisational answer more than working software — vendor selection, a build-versus-buy decision, board-level cover. That is a different service and we do not offer it.
Staff augmentation
You need a lot of hands on well-specified work and you have the senior capacity to direct them. Cheaper per hour. The coordination cost lands on you.
Forward-deployed engineering
You need senior judgement inside your codebase within the week, the scope will change as you learn, and you would rather have working software every week than a plan for it.

Questions
How do you work across time zones?
Taipei's hours overlap conveniently with both the US afternoon/evening and Europe's morning, and we schedule live sessions in whichever window works for you. Everything else runs async-first and docs-first, wherever you're based. You see a live demo of working software every week.
Who owns the code and IP?
You do. Everything produced in an engagement, code, documentation, and related work product, transfers to the client under contract terms we agree on together. Nothing stays locked to us.
How is this different from hiring an agency?
There is no account-manager layer. Senior engineers work directly inside your repo, your Slack, and your tools, so the person you talk to is the person writing the code. You get working software every week, not status decks.
How do you handle security and our data?
NDAs are standard. We work on least-privilege access inside environments you control, and your data stays in your systems. You can revoke access at any time.
